Winemaker

Olaf Malver’s life has always been an eternal striving for wisdom, a yearning for more profound knowledge that can be carried over to the next generation, either by teaching or through exploring with others. Fortunately he has been able to pursue this quest with the advent of Danieli wines. This Danish born winemaker married in Georgia and with his wife and children expanded Danieli Winery.

Winery

‘Danieli’ is the Georgian word for the people of Denmark, and imbues elegance and deliberate balance, reflecting the outstanding quality of the wines. Being hopeless romantics, Olaf and Eka also love the historically rich and elegant Hotel Danieli in Venice. ‘Danieli’ then – all came together naturally, just like their wines.

Vineyard

Danieli Winery grows only traditional Georgian grapes in the Akhmeta region on south-facing slopes near the village of Argokhi. This terroir is famous for the magnificent Kisi grape variety, which is enjoying a resurgence after nearly disappearing during the country’s Communist period. Danieli Winery is proud to be revitalizing the modern production of these wines for the world to rediscover.
