Saperavi Brothers

From Our Producer: Artizani Harvest

On a beautiful Fall day in the village of Khashmi in the region of Kakheti, Saperavi Brothers’ producer, Artizani, set out with a team of experienced, local agriculture workers and international visitors to harvest the region’s most popular grape- Saperavi. Khashmi is located in Georgia’s eastern Kakheti region famous for its history of wine production and its fertile climate for cultivating several of the best local grape varietals, including saperavi. The vineyards sit at one of the highest elevations of vineyards in Georgia, adding to the microregion’s appeal.

Artizani  was founded by three wine aficionados obsessed with natural wines from Georgian indigenous grape varieties. Eight years ago, the trio began making wine as a hobby, mostly to showcase Georgian wine to a wide group of international friends. The quality of the wine was instantly noticed, and the Artizani brand quickly followed. The three winemakers, Salome, Irakli, and David, spent the day engaging in every detail- from the harvest of the grapes, to the transportation and weighing back at the winery, to the final press.

The day was finished with a supra- a Georgian feast- welcome to all involved in the year’s harvest. We look forward to sharing this vintage in the future to our wide market interested in jumping into the world of low-intervention, high-quality Georgian wine.
